Hello,
what about any of these Georges Delerue's scores? Some of them were released previously on LP or have been out of print for a very long time..

Previously unreleased:
- WOMEN IN LOVE
- CHERE LOUISE
- SWORD OF GIDEON
- PAUL ET VIRGINIE
- Le Jeu do Solitaire
- La Nuit Americaine
- Les Caprices de Marie
- Le Diable par le queue
- Memento Mori

Only on LP:
- L'AFRICAIN
- Preparez Vos Mouchoirs
- L'Incorrigible
- Interlude
- Tendre Poulet
- Les Morfalous
- Le Bon Plaisir
- Femmes de Personne
- Va Voir Maman, Papa travaille

Reissues:
- Le Complot
- La Reine Blanche
- Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne
- Georg Elser

Some of the unreleased scores completed in the US
- JOSEPHINE BAKER STORY
- HER ALIBI
- RICH AND FAMOUS
- BEACHES
- MEMORIES OF ME
- HOUSE ON CARROLL STREET - the score is considered lost but has anyone checked if Mrs. Delerue hasn't got a copy?
- Maxie
- Exposed
- Partners
- Twins

Still quite a lot of titles is waiting to be discovered and it would be perfect if some of the LP titles could be finally released in its COMPLETE FORM and not as short suites included on various compilations...

Keep my fingers crossed that some of those could finally happen Smile

"CHERE LOUISE" and "Les Caprices de Marie" appears on the compilation "Le cinéma de Philippe de Broca - vol 2" (Universal), but I don't know if the film contains a lot of music or not... Long extracts of "Le Diable par le queue" appears on the CD "Le cinéma de Philippe de Broca - vol 1" (all the important themes of the film)

and "La Nuit Americaine" is almost complete on the compilation "Le cinéma de François Truffaut" (a very great score fine and delicate !!!)

The complete score of L'AFRICAIN exists but on a bootleg CD (the sound is good but it's not official), and a short suite of "Preparez Vos Mouchoirs" was edited on CD by Milan (in a anthologie of "Les césars"). "Tendre Poulet" and "L'Incorrigible" were partially edited on the compilation "Le cinéma de Philippe de Broca - vol 2" (Universal).

"Femmes de Personne" : good film but according to my memories, it was not a really great score...

I agree completely with you, only that primarily depends on goodwill
of a producer (and in France, Stéphane Lerouge is one of only to
have the "means" of publishing this kind of scores since it has access
to all the Hortensia catalogue - Sido Music, only the absence of
tapes, the difficulty in selling a product too "specialized" and
"targeted", etc... make him take choices more or less frustrating for
the true "specialist" like you).

It is necessary to go to the obviousness: France lacks of independent labels of film music (as there are some in Italy)
which would dare to leave in integrality absolute the music about
which you speak.

Hi Petr "Lokutus" Very Happy

A few details about some of the Delerue scores you named...

CHERE LOUISE contains about 18 minutes of original music penned by Delerue: it's a very delicate score, as you already know.

SWORD OF GIDEON (TV) contains about 70 minutes of orchestral music by Delerue sometimes in the vein of his SALVADOR score (the Main Title is very lyrical and patriotic); this TV movie tells the same story as MUNICH directed by Spielberg.

LE DIABLE PAR LA QUEUE contains about 21 minutes of music by Delerue (the most important themes were included on the CD named by "KFigaro")

HER ALIBI contains about 26 minutes of music by Delerue; HOUSE ON CARROLL STREET... about 30 minutes.

The score for EXPOSED -- as present in the final edit -- is relatively short: about 18 minutes.

Cool

From the films mentioned I have seen only Her Alibi and House on Carroll Street (as far as I remember). While House of Carroll Street has a very short score, I expected that HER ALIBI contained a bit more music. I'll have to see that "thing" again Smile

I am familiar with DeBroca compilations as well as recent Truffaut collection, but probably scores and highly popular films such as Tendre Poulet and L'Africain especially would deserve to be released in their more complete form. If the masters are lost, then simply remastering the album from LPs would be good enough and both could fit on a single CD...

Well, maybe one day, UMF will release it or some other company will get the chance to revisit these scores (Disques Cinemusique started very well with their first 3 Delerue releases - if only they would continue in that direction instead of numerous re-recordings of various pieces) Sad

btw, speaking about Delerue and the latest UMF releases, have anyone heard their JULES ET JIM / LES DEUX ANGLAISES ET LE CONTINENT? I have both scores on their previous releases (Prometheus and Hortensia) but certainly sound quality of both (especially Jim) could be improved... Is this new release worth getting based on the sound quality alone? Smile

Disques Cinemusique have no access to the Hortensia / Sido Music catalog and "masters" so he cannot edit completes scores just like Universal do...

I will say that this series of CDs from Universal France are personal favorites - and they just get better and better. I wish they were more readily available here - I used to get them from Screen Archives, but they haven't gotten the last batch in, so I guess I'm going to have to do amazon.fr.

"Descente aux enfers" (1986) LP only

"Conseil de famille" (1986) LP only

On one of the Riffifi CDs you can find one selection from each film, at least this we have on CD.
